A catch-all e-mailbox is one that captures all the emails sent to invalid addresses. For example, if your email address is info@domain.com, but somebody mistypes it and sends an email message to inof@domain.com, it will still be received in the catch-all mailbox that you have configured. Just one mailbox per domain can have this feature activated and in this way you’ll never miss messages because the other side has an out-of-date address or has made a spelling mistake. The negative aspect of creating a catch-all mailbox is that you may begin receiving plenty of spam email messages, but this issue can be rectified using anti-spam protection software. It is also essential to keep in mind that a mailbox with an active catch-all functionality cannot forward inbound emails to a third-party address.
Catch-all Emails in Shared Web Hosting
If you have a shared web hosting service with our company and you would like to enable the catch-all functionality for a specific mailbox that you have in your hosting account, it will take literally only one mouse click in the Email Manager section of your Hepsia Control Panel to do that. A catch-all button is available on the right-hand side of each and every email address that you have created under any domain name hosted in your account. You can choose one email address per domain by clicking the respective button. This will enable the feature immediately, so all email messages sent to misspelled addresses will be delivered there. Clicking the button once more will disable the catch-all feature. If you’ve got enabled email forwarding, our system will display a cautionary note and you won’t be able to enable the catch-all feature till you remove the forwarding or you can simply choose another mailbox to be the catch-all one.
Catch-all Emails in Semi-dedicated Hosting
A catch-all email address can be created with a couple of mouse clicks if you have a semi-dedicated hosting with our company. The hosting account will be managed via our in-house developed Hepsia hosting Control Panel and you will be able to set up mailboxes with any domain name registered here. To activate the catch-all functionality for a specific mailbox, you will need to click the button with the exact same name, which will be next to each mailbox. Deactivating this functionality can be done in the same way and will not take more than one click either. If a catch-all mailbox has already been activated for a particular domain name, you’ll get a warning note. The same is valid if the mailbox that you would like to be a catch-all one has email forwarding enabled, as our system will never deactivate or edit anything automatically.
